Thorpe Rovers 3 - TUGFC 0

Last Match Report – Thorpe Rovers 3 – 0 TUGFC
A great effort all round from the team and the final score reflects more on the poor refereeing decisions than the game itself.
In an even first half Utd done very well to compete with the much bigger Rovers team. The defensive work from Grace, Ellie, Laila and Amber was especially good with the girls really focusing on the task in hand. It was good to see players like Amber and Rebecca getting more in to the game and having a solid performance. It gives good competition for places and gives a chance for the others to have a rest!!
Midfield again looked good with some tireless effort from Jess, Ebony, Lydia and Rebecca. And although Shai was carrying an injury she still looked dangerous on the break. 0 – 0 at half time was a fair reflection of how evenly balanced the game was.
The second half started much the same and the game turned on a terrible refereeing decision, the Rovers forward clearly kicking the ball out of Grace’s hands (and kicking her hands in the process). I know refereeing isn’t easy but that was outrageous (and made worse by the ref clearly celebrating the goal with the home team). He apologised to me for his performance after the match!!
Utd continued to compete well and had opportunities to score; the best move was a great ball from Lydia to Ebony who took the ball with pace from the half way line, only to be denied by a combination of post and goalkeeper. Two quick, very lucky scrappy goals from Rovers was really an unfair reflection on the game and had it not been for some poor decisions it could have been a different result.
Some excellent performances again and we are really improving with every game. Sprowston up next and with the same effort as the last few weeks we should be able to give them a close game.
