TUGFC 0 - Waveney Kittens 7

TUGFC 0 –7 Waveney Kittens

Another tough game for the U10s against a very pacey and energetic Waveney Kittens.
Thorpe got off to the worst possible start conceding 3 very quick goals before we even got going, with their number 9 very good at running with the ball and taking our girls a bit by surprise. After this shocking opening Thorpe grew more into the game and started to compete, with Jess have another good opening half in the midfield, supported by Ebony and Lydia.
TUGFC finished the half on much more of an even footing, only conceding one more before the end of the half and having a couple of great opportunities to score. The pick of our moves was an excellent run from Shai with some really nice control and skill, before being fouled. Lydia going very close with the resulting free kick. Good work for Jess and Ebony gave Shai another great opportunity and this time the defence and keeper were equal to Shai’s efforts.
Apart from the first couple of minutes we competed well and Laila, Ellie and the excellent Grace in goal looked more comfortable.
The Second half saw us start a bit brighter and we really competed a lot better for the ball –Ellie and especially Laila defending with more confidence. Again we had another couple of good chances to score with the best again coming from Shai, who worked tirelessly up front. An improved second half Ebony played an lovely through ball to Shai whose shot was unfortunately saved by their keeper.
Again Amber and Rachel played a great supporting role and got stuck in when they came on making some important challenges. As we chased the game Kittens scored another couple of goals and the game ended (at about the same time as the unfortunate Rebecca’s nose bleed) at 0 – 7.
A much better effort in the second half and again some real improvements all round,
