Thorpe Utd 2 – 0 Thorpe Rovers.

A great start to the season with a well deserved victory in our opening game. Straight from kick off we looked like a team that knew what it was doing with a marked improvement from our friendly’s. We started with a changed formation switching Laila to the back and she put in an inspired performance winning some great tackles and clearing the ball at every opportunity. In an even first half Grace kept TUGFC in the game with some excellent saves and 0 – 0 at half time was a great reflection on the effort from all the girls.
The second half saw us grow in confidence and control the match with an excellent opening goal from Ebony, running through with the ball and scoring with a nice finish. We had numerous chances to score again with Shai, Jess, Ebony and Lydia all going close.
The second goal wasn’t long coming with another strong run from the tieless Lydia, assisted by a great through ball from Jess, and Shai running through with an excellent finish. Rovers still looked strong on the break but Leila, Ellie and Grace held strong. Well done to all the girls, everyone played their part, and a great game to watch.
