Last Match Report – Waveney Kittens 9 – 0 TUGFC
Another good effort from all the girls against a very good team. The Waveney Kittens are top of the league and have some very good players so there is no shame in this result, and the final score line flattered them a little.
Thorpe started with a slightly different set up with 3 at the back (Lydia, Ellie and Laila) and this seemed to work a lot better in our favour in the opening exchanges. Lydia put in a great display at the heart of our defence with some excellent tackles and clearances. As usual Grace was superb in goal and made some great saves. With the defence under a bit of pressure it was great to get Amber and Rebecca on and both did a solid job. Amber especially improving with every game with some great tackles and clearances.
The girls were a little unlucky to be 3 nil down at half time with 3 or 4 good runs on the break from Shai and we could have pulled a couple of goals back. Both Jess and Ebony were superb in midfield and covered a lot of ground on a big pitch.
The Second half was much of the same as the first with Thorpe soaking up the pressure and looking to catch Waveney on the break. Ebony and Jess again putting in a huge amount of work.
A great defensive performance all game and the last 4 goals were more to do with everyone running out of steam.
Waveney Leopards up next and if we keep performing and putting in the effort that we have so far our results will start to change.
